NONVIOLENT EDUCATION/TRAINING

In the spring of 2006, Joe took the training of trainers course in Kingian Nonviolence at the Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence in Providence, RI.  Since taking the course, he has presented trainings for various groups of adults and youths.  In 2006, Joe worked with the Institute and other nonviolence trainers to develop a 6-week refresher training in nonviolence for inner-city youth in the Pawtucket, RI school system.   For the course of six weeks, Joe and other trainers from the Institute spent one day a week in the schools working with youth on nonviolence, active listening skills and study into the Six Steps and Six Principles of Nonviolence as taught by Martin Luther King, Jr.

Since this training, Joe has continued to explore nonviolence as a way of life and an agent for social change.  He has expanded his skills to include other curriculums on Nonviolence including the Engage materials from Pace e Bene.   Joe integrates the principles of Gandhi and King with Marshall Rosenberg's process of Nonviolent Communication to create a curriculum in nonviolence that is suitable for any audience.

Whether you goal is to end violence in your community or teach youth about the value and power of Nonviolence, Joe is available to present workshops and talks as well as facilitating discussions on nonviolence.   Feel free to contact him if you would like to discuss bringing nonviolence to your social change efforts.
