CONFLICT COACHING:Conflict
Coaching is one of the many conflict resolution tools used to help individuals, businesses and organizations manage
conflict. Coaching involves consultation and guidance on a
specific dispute or conflict to get clear on the needs and to open up
the options for new strategies to meet those needs. Using
the four-part process of NVC to help convey messages free of blame,
judgment, evaluation or wrongdoing, coaching helps open dialogue on
previously tough conflicts.
Conflict coaching is a method of preparation to approach
conflict using the needs-focused skills of NVC. Coaching is a solution to conflicts
where mediation is not appropriate. Conflict coaching works to
- transform enemy images into connections;
- express messages honestly to present without blame, judgment, shame;
-
explore strategies to meet everyone's needs;
- listen empathetically
for needs and feelings without trying to "fix things."
