PAYMENT & FEES:
In Nonviolent Communication, we make clear distinctions between
observations vs. evaluations, feelings vs. thoughts, needs and the
strategies used to meet those needs, and we make requests as opposed to
making demands. Through this consciousness, Joe Brummer recognizes that
to “charge” a set fee for his services could sound much like a demand
rather than a request. Joe also recognizes that money is a strategy to
meet needs. Through this work, a variety of needs are met for Joe,
including contribution, meaning, connection, and growth. Joe also wants
to meet his own needs for support in doing this work and the ability to
sustain himself and his family. While Joe does request $100 per hour and that travel
expenses and lodging be provided when possible, Joe’s policy regarding
money is to request clients pay him the most they can joyfully
give after reviewing their own needs.
